The upcoming full moon has got me thinking, what does a full moon signify when it comes to crystals and self-work?
Simply, a full moon signifies wholeness and power, the peak of clarity. Different cultures have different associations for each moon phase.
The Chinese associate the moon with the essence of Yin and the feminine. Buddhists see it as a representation of spiritual power. The moon can be seen as a symbol of dark and light, the conscious and unconscious.
In astrology, the moon is representative of our "inner self," hidden emotions and desires, our shadow self. It represents our feelings and our feminine goddess archetypes.
Universally the moon is a feminine symbol and represents the cycle of life; it controls the tides, the rain and the seasons, therefore, it is believed by many, that the moon's energy affects us in a similar manner as our bodies are made up of 70% water. The moon controls the tide of our emotions.
Did you know?
The word "lunatic" comes from the Latin as it was thought that during the full moon lunacy was worsened
The science ...
The moon has no light of her own, she reflects the light of the sun. As the moon orbits our planet, and our planet orbits the sun, the amount of light reflected differs, giving the moon her phases.
During a full moon, the moon is directly opposite the sun.
Astrologically speaking, this means that the sun and moon are on opposite sides of the zodiac during a full moon. This creates a very powerful energy as lunar and solar (yin and yang) are in perfect balance.
So, how does a full moon affect me?
The energy of the full moon amplifies emotions, feelings, dreams and mental processes all of which vary dependant on the zodiac transit at the time.
The full moon is all about illumination. Each full moon helps us to identify and understand parts of ourselves better and with more clarity than before.
Dependant on the zodiac each full moon falls within, different areas of your life may be brought into the spotlight, whether this is secrets coming out, changes within ourselves or relationships, romantic or otherwise, coming to an end. Full moons are a time of change and mark a time to release anything which is no longer serving you.
Each full moon can affect each astrological sign differently. You can find out how your sign is affected by different astrology sites, we recommend: moonology.com or astrology.com.
How to harness the power of the full moon
There are many different ways you can work with the full moon. At Moon Charged Crystals we have full moon ceremonies, not just for our crystals but for ourselves too!
Lighting a candle is a powerful tool for self-work. During the full moon, I like to reflect on my new moon intentions, identify anything which is hindering me reaching my goal and write them down. I then head outside and read my note to the moon, asking her for assistance in releasing this energy. After that, I burn my list. This is a great way to visualise letting go of what id holding you back
You can make the most of the potent full moon energy by sitting under the light of the moon and meditating. As you breathe in allow the bright light of the moon fill you with confidence and power and as you breathe out allow the breath to expel any unwanted energy, that which no longer serves you.
"I love the energy of the full moon, I take full advantage of the extra power and light of la luna with some intense self-care time. I like to cleanse my auric field with a moon bath ritual. A relaxing bath with sage, candles, Himalayan salt and crystals," - Pippa, Co-Founder MCC
